This year, the Victory Foundation is honored to be partnered with the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (T2T), an organization dedicated to honoring America's heroes by providing mortgage-free homes to fallen first responders and military veterans. T2T builds specially adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders, and delivers critical support to those who have sacrificed so much in service to others.
On September 11, 2001, upon hearing news of the attack on the Twin Towers, off-duty Brooklyn Squad 1 firefighter Stephen Gerard Siller returned to his truck and drove toward the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to help. When he learned the tunnel was closed for security, he strapped 60 pounds of gear to his back and raced on foot through the tunnel to the Twin Towers — where he gave up his life while saving others.
His story, and T2T's mission, deeply align with the heart of the Victory Foundation. Veterans and first responders run into battle to protect our communities and our country every day. But many return from the fight carrying visible and invisible injuries — including PTSD, trauma, anxiety, depression, and addiction.
